ObjectiveTo explore the related factors to hypopituitarism in patients with pituitary adenoma before treatment. MethodsThe clinical data of 200 eligible patients with pituitary adenomas admitted to Unit 2, Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from January 2015 to December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The data were grouped and sorted out, and statistical analysis was conducted using SAS 9.4 statistical software. ResultsThrough multiple statistical methods, there was no statistically significant difference between gender, course of disease, tumor size, type, intratumoral stroke, and invasive status, and the incidence of pituitary dysfunction in patients with pituitary adenomas before treatment(all P>0.05). Only the difference in the incidence of pituitary dysfunction caused by age was statistically significant(P<0.05). ConclusionsAge is the only factor influencing pituitary hypofunction in patients with pituitary adenoma before treatment. Patients with pituitary adenoma younger than 60 years of age are more likely to develop pituitary hypofunction prior to treatment, approximately twice as often as patients older than or equal to 60 years.
